Hi Everyone,

The South Arkansas Writers met at 2 PM on Sunday, 15 March 2026, at Main Street Pizza in El Dorado. Present were Jack and Janet Ryan, Marilyn Joyner, Simeon Stipp-Bethune, and Desireé Stipp-Bethune.

Our next meeting will be at 2PM on 19 April 2026.

News:
1) Marilyn won 2nd Place in the February Poets’ Round Table contest.
2) Desireé’s book will be on sale at a museum in Salina, KS.
3) Rick is in Las Vegas to give a talk to bicycle retailers.

Writing from Prompts:
1) Desireé read her poem, “Ways I’ve Celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day.” She also read an interview/story, “The Flame.”
2) Janet read from her stamp pages honoring lace from East Germany and from Russia.

Prompts for our April meeting include: 1) Someone returns to a place they said they’d never go back to, 2) April Fool, 3) the weather, 4) a cross-eyed pine tree 5) an ekphrastic poem or story and 6) (as always)... “Anything You Want.”

We critiqued Jack’s Chapters 20 and 21 from his novel “The Centaurian Bud Vase.” We had some interesting discussions and a lot of good suggestions.

If anyone has something to be critiqued, a news item, another prompt for our next meeting, or would like to present a short “program” on something that you think would be of interest to us all, you can email me at jackwryan@gmail.com

See you in April. Stay Safe.
