Hi Everyone,

The South Arkansas Writers met at 2 PM on Sunday, 19 July 2026 at Main Street Pizza in El Dorado. Present were Jack and Janet Ryan, Marilyn Joyner, Rick Vosper, Desireé Stipp-Bethune, and Simeon Stipp-Bethune.

Our next meeting will be at 2PM on 16 August 2026.

News:
Simeon won First Prize for the South Arkansas College Contest for the Best Academic Paper. He also told us that he will be attending the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) this Fall, majoring in Art. Congratulations for both events!

Writing from Prompts:
1) Marilyn read, “That Old House”
2) Desireé read “Bonnie’s Love” and “Pandemonium Atop Birmingham Hill”
3) Janet read “Faroe Islands” and “Water Mills” from her stamp pages about the Faroe Island

Prompts for our August meeting include: 1) An alternative vampire (he/she/it eats something other than blood)(or some similar alternative for something else) 2) Dancing in the moonlight, 3) Dog Days, 4) hurricanes, and 5)(as always)... Anything You Want.

We critiqued Rick’s Chapter 5 from his “Crooked Ponies” novel, and Jack’s Chapter 25, “Grimace,” from his “The Centaurian Bud Vase” novel. We had some interesting discussions and a lot of good suggestions.
